General Site Description: |
Previous site use included a logging truck operation, specifically equipment storage and fueling. According to Tillamook County assessment records, previous owners and their respective dates of ownership include: Lola D. Andrus (2/2/2001 - 1/3/2018) and Frederik W. Jorgenson (owner prior to 2001). Two natural springs are on the property. Tillamook County foreclosed on the property in early 2018 and when Sammy's Place acquired the property in September 2018, they observed solid waste (miscellaneous debris), some hazardous waste (paint cans, drums), above-ground petroleum tanks, a gas pump, and a former residential structure in disrepair. No previous site investigation, including a Phase I, has been conducted on the property. Sammy's Place is working with Oregon DEQ's Asbestos Program and Tillamook County's Solid Waste Program to identify resources and best practices for clearing the site to improve access for site assessment (sampling) and future development. A limited Phase I and Phase II site investigation is needed to determine if petroleum and hazardous substances (such as metals, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons [PAHs], polychlorinated biphenyls [PCBs]) are present in soil, groundwater, soil vapor that could pose a risk to human health and the environment. |

DEQ is planning on conducting a site investigation that will include sampling environmental media (i.e soil, groundwater, surface water). In order to improve access to the site for sampling, DEQ is working with project partners to identify resources to assist with conducting an inventory of all potential source areas of contamination, and removing and properly disposing of these materials. |
