(5/9/2018 CJB) Project management shift pending. Status of site provided in April 11 2018 Progress Report and call from Paul McBeth today. Draft CJ is with H&V attorneys for review. Off-gas treatment now with carbon filter is effective at removing TCE, no longer use CatOx unit. SVE and GWE still removing TCE under continuous operation less power outages.
(2/22/2017 CJB) Following approval of the feasibility study and staff report, DEQ signed the Record of Decision for the site in Sept. 2015. The ROD established remedial action plans to cleanup TCE-contaminated groundwater at the site. DEQ is preparing to engage in a Consent Judgment with H&V to ensure implementation of the remedy.
(9/10/07 SJS) In 1978 1,400 gallons of TCE spilled on site. Some soil was removed and in 1991 a pump-and-treat system was installed to remove TCE from the subsurface and to provide hydraulic containment so that contaminated groundwater does not migrate off-site. Work in the 1990s was under the supervision of the EPA RCRA program, and in 2000 was referred to DEQ's cleanup program. Since that time a focused remedial investigation (RI), a human health risk assessment, and a ecological risk assessment have been completed. A draft focused feasibility study has been completed and is currently under review by DEQ for selection of a final remedy. After review of the draft FFS, DEQ requested several areas of improvement. On January 31, 2008 Evanite agreed to several additional pilot studies and interim remedial actions.
