[August 2019] The Port of St. Helens/Former Pope & Talbot Wood Treating site is located in St. Helens, Oregon. The site was used for wood treating from 1912 to 1960. The Port purchased the property in 1963. The Port removed the remaining structures and filled much of the site with dredge sands between 1963 and 1973. The remedial investigation at the site is almost complete. The Supplemental Remedial Investigation including an updated risk assessment was submitted to DEQ in May 2014. Additional phases of investigation of the aquatic environment were conducted in 2017. An update to the Supplemental Remedial Investigation is underway and a draft Feasibility Study Work Plan was submitted in July 2019.
