Jordan Cove and the Williams and Pacific Connector Pipelines

A natural gas energy project is proposed for the Port of Coos Bay. The project has two separate but complementary elements: a receiving terminal and 231 miles of natural gas pipeline.

Jordan Cove Energy Project is a proposal to construct a liquefied natural gas shipping and receiving terminal near North Bend, about five miles up Coos Bay from the Pacific Ocean. The proposed terminal would have the capacity to pump one billion cubic feet per day of natural gas.

Subsidiaries of the Williams Companies, Inc. and Pacific Gas & Electric Partners L.P. are seeking to link the Jordan Cove terminal with an existing network of pipelines. The "Williams" pipeline would connect the liquefied natural gas terminal on Coos Bay with the Northwest Pipeline system near Myrtle Creek. The "Pacific Connector" pipeline would connect the terminal to Pacific Gas and Electric's interstate pipeline near Malin, Oregon.

These projects will involve several federal, state and local government agencies, private businesses, community groups and individual Oregonians, many of whom may have concerns about the environment and environmental laws and regulations. DEQ is responsible for drafting, issuing and ensuring compliance with required air, water and waste management permits.
