For release: Jan. 23, 2013 Contacts: DEQ Sets Jan. 30 Information Meeting on Troutdale Energy Center’s Air and Water Quality Permit Applications Information meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at Sam Cox Building in Troutdale What: The Department of Environmental Quality will share information and answer questions about Troutdale Energy Center’s air and water quality permit applications for a proposed electric power plant. When: 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013 Where: Sam Cox Building, Great Room 1106 E Columbia River Highway Troutdale, OR 97060 (Sam Cox Building is behind the Glenn Otto Community Park parking lot.) For more information: See public notice Air Quality Permit Writer George Davis: 503-229-5534 Water Quality Permit Writer Rob Burkhart: 503-229-5566 Burkhart.Robert@deq.state.or.us Background: Troutdale Energy Center proposes to construct and operate a 653 megawatt electric generating plant at the former Reynolds Aluminum site in Troutdale. Troutdale Energy Center proposes to generate electricity with three natural gas turbines, with diesel as a backup fuel. The turbines would emit primarily oxides of nitrogen, carbon monoxide and particulate matter. The facility would use treated wastewater from the Troutdale Water Pollution Control Facility and groundwater for its operations and discharge wastewater into the Sandy River. |
