Commercial Laws and Regulations

In Oregon, cities with populations of 4000 or more are required to provide an opportunity to recycle to residents and businesses. The requirements are in statute and rule and can be found below. In addition, businesses that use or manufacture rigid plastic containers, glass, or newsprint have additional requirements.

Call your local solid waste agency for information about any additional solid waste ordinances that might have an effect on your business' waste reduction program (see Who to Call). Some local ordinances require businesses to recycle and others place specific requirements on collectors.
