Union Pacific Railyard Cleanup, Eugene - Feasibility Study

Union Pacific and the DEQ will begin preparing a Feasibility Study (FS) in 2011. The FS will review the findings of the remedial investigation, including the risk assessment. For areas of the rail yard where residual contaminant concentrations exceed DEQ’s cleanup levels, the FS will evaluate final remedial action options to address the contamination.
Until a remedy is selected, Union Pacific will continue to monitor groundwater and soil gas to track residual contaminant levels under DEQ oversight, and make sure people are not being exposed to the contamination above DEQ’s cleanup standards. These monitoring data, along with the results of the FS report, will be used by DEQ to select a final Remedial Action for the Railyard project.
