Site Summary

Laureldale Lane is a rural mixed residential and industrial area east of Grants Pass between Rogue River Highway and the Rogue River. Several residential water supply wells have been contaminated by trichloroethylene (TCE). All residences and businesses in the area rely on well water, as city water is not available in this area. The source of the TCE in the groundwater is uncertain. DEQ is managing the project using Hazardous Substance Remedial Action Funds to supply residents with contaminated wells with filters to remove TCE from their water. DEQ has conducted a Preliminary Assessment at the site. The US EPA has is conducting an Integrated Assessment (Site Inspection and Removal Assessment) at the site to evaluate the threat TCE Is posing, and to try and identify sources of TCE contamination. EPA completed an Integrated Assessment Report in May 2009 and is planning additional environmental sampling this year. An associated project is ECS Composites (ECSI # 3763). ECS's factory is centrally located within the area of TCE contamination and will be one focus of the EPA assessment.
