- Conduct program within context of the Oregon Plan for Salmon and Watersheds

- Low dissolved oxygen, eutrophication, chemical & biological contamination, habitat modification, cumulative impacts

Contribute to providing a scientific and statistically valid basis for: - Data collection
- Resource management
- Take the tools developed during the project and build them into DEQ’s core programs, including ambient monitoring
Extent of CEMAP:- 1999- 80 total sites all estuaries excluding the main stem of the Columbia River, but including embayments up to RM 65. 30 sites collected in the Tillamook Intensive study
- 2000- 50 sites exclusively in the Columbia River up to Bonneville
- 2001- 32 sites all estuaries excluding Columbia Estuary
- 2002- 65 inter-tidal sites in all estuaries, excluding Columbia River, 30 sites collected in the Coos Bay intensive study.
- 2003- 50 sites near-coastal waters in depths ranging from 30-120 m with similar indicators as 1999-2001
- 2004- 43 sites in all estuaries including Columbia River up to river mile 24
- 2005- 25 sites in all estuaries including Columbia River up to river mile 24
- 2006- 25 sites in all estuaries including Columbia River up to river mile 24
