About

While the diesel industry is making cleaner vehicles, the challenge is making sure older enginesthat last for decadesoperate as cleanly as possible. Diesel engines can emit a significant amount of harmful pollutants, including those that contribute to climate change.

Fortunately, we don’t have to wait for environmental solutions—fleets can take simple and no-cost steps to reduce their environmental impact. Reducing unnecessary idling costs nothing, for example, and can yield significant fuel savings while improving air quality.

aAbout one gallon of fuel is burned for every hour of idling

Many fleets are paying closer attention to driver efficiencies either as an incentive program rewarding individual drivers on their fuel saving behavior, or installing after market control devices to ensure optimum vehicle utilization.

Cleaner fuels such as higher blend biodiesel, and other fuels such as propane, compressed natural gas are also available.

Finally, advanced pollution control devices (referred to as retrofits) turn out to be the most cost effective air quality strategy. Some devices slash pollution by up to 90%!

All of the above strategies are what fleets are doing to voluntarily reduce their diesel exhaust. For some strategies, there is no business case—it doesn’t add to fuel economy and it represents an additional expense. Yet, some fleets have chosen to make the decision. Whatever the compelling case is for fleets to take action to reduce their diesel exhaust beyond what is required—whether that is to create a strong impression on customers, to save on fuel costs, or to operate more efficiently—we thought offering well deserved recognition should be one of the perks fleets enjoy for stepping up to the plate.

We think the name Fleet Forward says it all. Join fleets that have pushed to the head of the line.
