Oregon Clean Fuels Program

Approximately one-third of Oregon's greenhouse gases come from transportation sources. Providing cleaner fuels will help reduce these emissions and create a more efficient transportation system. Oregon's 10 Year Energy Action Plan, Transportation Planning Strategy, and the Global Warming Commission's Roadmap to 2020 all cite lower carbon transportation fuels as being a critical piece of Oregon's environmental and economic future.

Administrative Rules for Oregon’s Fuels Industry

Oregon’s Environmental Quality Commission recently adopted rules for the first phase of the Oregon Clean Fuels program. Oregon fuel producers and importers must register, keep records and report to DEQ information about the transportation fuels they currently provide in Oregon. DEQ will use this information to make a recommendation to the Oregon Legislature and the EQC about whether to move forward with the next phase of the program, the requirement to reduce the carbon intensity of the fuels.
